So that's pretty much what my focus will be on this blog. However, my attention span is somewhat short, so I like to watch the dramas with shorter runs. I typically watch romantic comedies, with some more dramatic romances thrown in, and I love historical pieces. There are crazy plot twists and plenty of makjang, but there are some really great stories, too.
I hate American soap operas and I find telenovelas to be too campy/crazy for my tastes, but there is something about kdramas, jdoramas, and the occasional twdrama that has me addicted. I mostly watch kdramas, and it's strange, because I find western equivalents completely unwatchable. I'm fascinated by the cultural phenomenon that is spreading from South Korea, and my worldview has changed because of my love of these things. I entered the Hallyu world almost by accident in 2011, and I haven't looked back. But now I know, and I'm writing a blog about these things. It's strange to think that a year ago I was oblivious to kdramas, the Hallyu Wave, kpop, Hyun Bin, Wookie, and numerous other things about Korean culture. Spy stops in to say that their suspicions about Won Il having a relationship with Panda seem to be confirmed. So they need her shares to control the company. She has 10% of the shares, Won Il has 45%, and between Mom and Step-dad are the other 45%. Dad insists she call Kwon Yoo Jin, the daughter of a patissiere, and the only shareholder in the company outside the family. Mom tries to calm down Step-dad, saying this is all childishness. Ruh-roh! Eun Bi goes to return the money. Eun Bi and another secretary grab the box and run off, telling him it's nothing, but he still suspects something shady. Oooh, I hope he has something big in the works! Won Il and Glasses leave.Ĭreepy Spy guy finds the box of money from Seung Ji and makes a big deal about it. Mom insists that he apologize to "dad", but he refuses and tells them they had better be at the upcoming board meeting. Luckily, Won Il steps in before he can actually hurt the poor girl. He tells her to get out and gets violent when she stands up for herself. She defends herself by saying that their designs are out of style and that they need to hire a young patissiere who is in touch with what's trendy. Could Ishak be next on the list, or is he the man responsible? Tracking down his more ‘unsavoury’ allies, Serena is shocked to encounter a familiar face: that of her grieving ex-partner, former Malaysian ICD officer Megat Jamil (Bront Palarae).Won Il goes downstairs and sees Step-dad yelling at a worker for not making her sales. As Serena and Heri work together to catch the killer, their inquiries lead them to industrialist/kingpin Datuk Ishak Hassan (Wan Hanafi Su), whose prominent family and known associates all have some connection to the victims. Seeking answers, Heri finds a way to insert himself into the Malaysian investigation. Meanwhile, in Jakarta, for ICD Lieutenant Heriyanto Salim (Ario Bayu), the case turns personal when his brother is found murdered in similar circumstances. Called in to investigate, Singaporean International Crimes Division (ICD) officer Serena Teo (Rebecca Lim) takes charge of a case across the border where a family has been slaughtered aboard a luxury yacht in Johor.
